Background:
The Formidable Initiatives for Women and Girls (FIWG) is a local, non-governmental, non-political
and nonprofit women’s led organization established to advance the rights of women, youth and
adolescent girls through holistic education, health and economic empowerment programs. We
leverage Agriculture as a social enterprise for sustainable programming and enhancement of national
food security.
FIWG believes in providing youth especially vulnerable young women and girls’ opportunities to rise
above their challenges and develop into economically independent, confident and successful leaders.
With focus and contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) nationally,
FIWG works support SDGs 3, 4 and 5.
FIWG Liberia is seeking to recruit a highly qualified & experienced person to serve as a Program
Director in Liberia.
Duty and Responsibilities:
1. Initiate and design programs that address the needs of women and girls for incorporation in the
FIWG-Liberia strategic and other work plans.
2. Coordinate and monitor the activities implementation to ensure achievement of planned results.
3. Provide technical support to improve staff performance in projects implementation, service
delivery and resources utilization.
4. Develop and maintain networks with partner agencies for resource sharing and cost-saving.
5. Write short-term plans that address the organization’s strategic plan.
6. Manage out-station duty points according to quality and standard guidelines.
7. Conducting site mapping for service delivery in the selected communities of assignment for
project implementation;
8. Prepare written correspondences related to the program, including program bulletins
9. Provide administrative support for the timely implementation of program activities
10. Schedule program meetings and take minutes as appropriate
11. Maintain timely submission of FIWG Liberia program reports, including staff monthly time
sheets and reports
12. Conduct supervision , monitoring and evaluation of project implementation and report;
13. Conduct/facilitate training workshops;
14. Complete assignments to meet set deadlines;
15. Carry out any other assignment as designated by the supervisor.
Position Qualification:
 The successful candidate should have a minimum of a degree in Sociology, Social Work,
Public Health, Gender, Community Development or related fields.
 Possession of Post graduate qualifications in Project Planning and management is preferred
advantage.
 The ideal candidate should have not less than 2 years’ experience in project management,
project administration or coordination.
 Previous experience in women empowerment program implementation is added advantage.
 A committed person with excellent interpersonal skills, a fast learner and ability to work
under minimal supervision
 Excellent Computer knowledge
 Female is an advantage
Competencies:
1. Ability to develop project proposals that are gender sensitive and youth focused.
2. Ability to prepare activity plans and budgets.
3. Ability to develop monitoring and supervisory checklists and plans.
4. Ability to negotiate, lobby and communicate timely.
5. Ability to co-ordinate outstation duty points with Headquarters, local administration and other
program staff.
6. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple partners and teams at national and sub national
levels.
7. Ability to assist in developing or adapting relevant youth focused, gender sensitive and
disability-friendly materials for project implementation;
8. Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, collaborative and good listening skills
9. Openness to new ideas and willingness to accept different opinions
10. Respect for others, patience and sense of humor
11. Willingness to travel for extended periods of time within and out of the country
Outputs and Outcomes:
1. Women and girls needs incorporated in strategic plan and addressed.
2. Project activities implemented according to plan and set targets met.
3. Quality services provided to clients.
4. Efficient use of women’s right and gender equality resources and mutual support from
partners.
